Webinar with B.C. Seniors Advocate Dan Levitt - October 7, 2025

The Manitoba Federation of Union Retirees is proud to be one of the sponsors for an upcoming webinar featuring keynote speaker Dan Levitt from the Office of the Seniors Advocate in British Columbia.

When:  October 7, 2025 at 11 am on Zoom

Webinar Description:

•    How money is spent on long-term care directly impacts the quality of life for people who live there.
•    This webinar will present the findings of the two reviews that the British Columbia Seniors advocate did in 2018, and again in 2023 on the comparative cost/impact of provincially contracted for-profit and non-profit long-term care facilities.
•    This evidence-based data demonstrates the importance of promoting greater accountability and transparency for public investment in long-term care facilities in order to better provide services to seniors as well as improving government efficiency in the use of taxpayers’ dollars.
•    The lessons from the B.C. experience could help inform the development of a similar review by the Seniors Advocate of Manitoba to better understand the cost/impact of service providers in our province.
